Trauma Counseling
Grubbs Counseling & Consulting provides Trauma Counseling Therapy for traumatic events and help adapt to life stress after a trauma event.
Often unresolved or current forms of trauma are mistaken for symptoms of mental illness. The response to traumatic events can occur immediately following or long past the event itself. Many factors play a role in how the person adapts to life stress afterwards. Trauma does occur in many different forms such as parental neglect, emotional punishment, bullying, sexual abuse and many other forms. When the universal rules of trust and safety from others are violated it causes pain.
A key question to ask sometimes is if our healthy stress response to the event has lasted too long. Some of the goals of trauma counseling are to identify issues with emotional processing such as inappropriate anger, anxiety, and shame.
